The biggest surprise on senior night was that the seniors didn’t have to take care of business all by themselves.
“It was a great team win,” South Forsyth coach Keith Gravitt said. “Everybody contributed out there and did things to help the team win tonight.”
South Forsyth has an older roster this year, with five seniors, but the freshmen are the ones that had great performances Friday night.
Freshman Sharon Tolliver and Ava McGlockton combined for 25 points on the night, and McGlockton had a few key rebounds that helped their offense keep rolling.
Senior Ashley Breindl also had a big night, scoring 16 points and getting a handful of steals even with limited time on the floor.
South Forsyth did a great job substituting throughout the game and keeping their players fresh to come in and out whenever they needed to.
“Every teammate they have out there on the court at any time has the opportunity to contribute to the success of this team,” Gravitt said. “Hopefully that success shows up on the scoreboard as well.”
With a 16-7 overall record and a 4-4 record in Region 5-7A, the War Eagles are all but guaranteed a spot in the region tournament. However, they still have the ability to move up to the third seed with only two games left.
South Forsyth will travel to Forsyth Central on Tuesday for a 6 p.m. tipoff.
